About the event
Join us for a tribute to former 12th Congressional District Representative, John Dignell. You may register on our website or contact vwelter1@gmail.com. You may also register at the Michigan Democratic Party website.
Dingell became the longest serving member of Congress on 7 June 2013. By the time Dingell retired on 3 January 2015, he had served 21,571 days -- nearly 60 years -- in the House of Representatives. Throughout his career he was a leading Congressional supporter of organized labor, social welfare measures and traditional progressive policies. At the beginning of every Congress, Dingell introduced a bill providing for a national health insurance system, the same bill that his father proposed while he was in Congress. Dingell also strongly supported Bill Clinton's managed-care proposal early in his administration.
Join us for an evening of tribute to John Dingell.
